What is “Loire Valley-Watercolor Experience”  with Artistic Gourmet Adventures?
“This past summer, my daughter and I joined Jo Williams on the trip of a lifetime, the Artistic Gourmet Adventures Watercolor trip to Provence, France. Each day, we painted watercolors on site outdoors in the beautiful French countryside, and then in the evenings, we had critiques of our work. The plein air painting experience was a wonderful time to be completely immersed in painting. There is something quite special about sitting outdoors, soaking in your surroundings. and interpreting what you see and feel in watercolor. It’s truly being present in the moment. Jo was a a wonderful teacher! Our group included novice to experienced painters of all ages, college age to retirees. Watercolor is a challenging medium and can be somewhat intimidating to begin. Yet, in a matter of a couple painting sessions, Jo Williams had everyone enjoying the painting experience as she went from person to person teaching and helping each of us on site, even while she painted alongside us. in the evenings, Jo held critiques of the day’s work. Her criticism was delivered in her gentle and quiet manner, but it was authentic, specific, always spot on, and really helpful..and our paintings progressed because of it. Jo Williams has a lifetime of experience and knowledge as an artist, and it’s seen in the precision with which she teaches and critiques.  Throughout our time painting, I saw tremendous growth in all of us due to Jo’s individualized approach to teaching watercolor. Jo Williams is intuitive and genuine in her own art, her teaching, and her relationships. I am grateful for the amazing experience we had together, and for once again being excited to paint. What a gift! Thank you, thank you, Jo!”–J.Morris

The sights of the color and texture, and the scent of a lavender field encapsulate for many the essence of Provence. The lavender in the Luberon blooms from around the last week of June to the beginning of August when it is harvested. It is usually at its peak in early July, but this depends on the rainfall in the year. Be amazed by the colors of ochre this land is made of and used as a natural pigment in paints. The reds, yellows, oranges and pinks that merge one into the other and the stunning contrast of the green of the pine trees or the blue sky against the red cliffs.
